The game was originally developed as an open ended method to testing different ways augmented reality could be used as a game tool outside of location based AR.While agumented reality is utilized in the demo and in the full game Get Some Sleep employs transmedia storytelling.
The demo gives players a basic introduction to the game and world that Get Some Sleep takes place in.

Motivation
The concept for “Get Some Sleep” emerged from a desire to experiment with augmented reality as a game tool beyond educational and location-based applications. By employing transmedia storytelling, I aimed to create a more immersive experience while also allowing flexibility in testing various methods of incorporating AR into the narrative.
The final version of the demo implements augmented reality through the use of QR codes as a method for players to find more clues and pieces of media related to the overarching story.
Design
The design of “Get Some Sleep” is heavily influenced by the style and aesthetics of technology in the late 90’s. The story is set in the year 1995 in an alternative timeline in which technology advanced much more rapidly mimicking much of what we have today. The story also incorporates topics related to emerging technology at the time - such as AI.
Players take on the roll of an archivist - a person who archives data right as its uploaded to the world wide web. In the demo players are introduced to the world and general game play of the demo. The game starts with the player logging in to a browser based page where they can get a feel for the world and start gathering clues on the story. Read through FAQ’s, log in to your desktop, chat with coworkers, and hey even get to know your own AI assistant - Nano95!
Structure
Early diagrams were made to better map out the games narrative and to better understand where player choice came in.
Player navigation was carefully considered while creating different pages in Twine.
